Bernard Whalen is named executive director.

NASFM headquarters moves to Plantation, Fla.

NASFM develops its first strategic plan.
1993
The Store Fixturing Show, a tradeshow for the retail design professional, opens its doors at McCormick Place in Chicago.

International Woodworking Fair, 1994
1994
The Profit Report (now known as the Industry Performance Report) launches, providing an accurate and in-depth financial picture of the association’s member companies.
1995
Klein Merriman is named executive director.
1996
The Store Fixturing Show is renamed GlobalShop to reflect the event’s broader scope; NASFM, as exclusive show sponsor.
1996
The 25th anniversary of the Store Interior Design Awards is marked with a name change to the Retail Design Awards.
1996
The Personnel and Wage Survey is improved and expanded as the Employee Compensation & Benefits Survey.
January 1997
NASFM headquarters moves to its current location in Hollywood, Fla.
February 1997
The first Store Fixture Buyers’ Guide is produced and circulated to 6,000 retailers.
May 1997
First Financial Seminar is held for association members.
February 1998
NASFM Magazine rolls off the presses, replacing the association’s two-color newsletter and accepting advertising for the first time.
September 1998
NASFM launches a web site at www.retailenvironments.org.
January 1999
First Project Management Seminar is held.
February 1999
NASFM exhibits for the first time at EuroShop and opens an international membership category.
June 1999
A special NASFM web site for retailers debuts at (today known as www.retailfix.com).
November 1999
NASFM publishes Contract Clause Manual as a reference tool for members.
1999
Retail Advisory Council forms to directly involve retailers in NASFM.
