A.R.E. Presents GlobalShop Sessions on Sustainable, International Topics

Hollywood, Fla. (March 18, 2009)—Maintaining relevance in its educational offerings in a challenging economy, the Association for Retail Environments’ conference session line-up for GlobalShop 2009 addresses sustainable and international issues. On-site sessions presented by A.R.E. include:

Building Inspiration in Greensburg (session 5). Mayor Bob Dixson of Greensburg gives the inside scoop on the city that’s being rebuilt sustainably in the wake of tornado devastation in a session moderated by Bob Riley, CEO and president of DSA/Phototech.

LEED for Retail – What’s It All About? (session 14). Leading retailers using the pilot rating system put into perspective the implications of the soon-to-be-released industry benchmark. Moderated by USGBC Director of Commercial Real Estate Marc Heisterkamp, this session features Erin McKenna, senior manager of retail design and architecture of Coldwater Creek, and Scott Shippey, design director of Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Interpreting Your Brand Globally (session 17). Two case studies explore international expansion issues and trends. B+N Industries President Brad Somberg moderates panelists Paul Currie, COO of Hamley’s; Brian Dyches, retail studio principal – international of Little; José Raúl Padrón, senior manager, visual merchandising & store design NA of Godiva Chocolatier; and Brian Shafley, president and chief creative director of Chute Gerdeman.

An off-site session details the largest U.S. project seeking LEED certification at the project’s sales office. MGM MIRAGE CityCenter: A Partnership of Creative Excellence benefits PAVE, a 501(c)(3) educational foundation administered by A.R.E. Presenting are Cindy Ortega, senior vice president of MGM MIRAGE Energy and Environmental Services, and Farid Matraki, vice president and general manager of CRYSTALS at CityCenter.
