A.R.E. Publishes Green Resource Guide

Hollywood, Fla. (March 23, 2009)—As the retail environments industry searches for guidance on developing eco-intelligent retail environments, A.R.E. is taking the lead with a variety of publications, webinars, seminar sessions, and online resources devoted to sustainability efforts and issues specifically for retailers, retail design firms, and manufacturers and suppliers of products and services for retail environments.

A.R.E.’s second edition of The Green Guide: Resources for Sustainable Retail Environments, a supplement to A.R.E.’s GlobalShop issue of Retail Environments, was created as a resource to help retailers, design firms, and manufacturers specify sustainable products, materials, and services for retail environments. The 24-page guide was mailed to some 6,000 retailers and designers prior to GlobalShop and will be distributed at the trade show in Las Vegas, March 23-25.

The Spring Green Guide is packed with information about working with vendors to earn LEED credits, understanding eco-labels and third-party certifications, and more than 45 examples of sustainable materials, components, store fixtures, visual presentation products, and services offered by A.R.E. member companies.

The Spring/Summer 2009 Green Guide is A.R.E.’s second. The first issue (Fall/Winter 08) issue was included as a pull-out supplement in A.R.E.’s 2009 Buyers’ Guide and Membership Directory, mailed in November 2008.

Both Green Guides, like A.R.E.’s Retail Environments magazine and Buyers’ Guide, were printed using soybased inks on paper that incorporates 30% post-consumer waste fiber, third-party certifications, and is processed elemental cholorine-free. The paper, Arborweb Gloss, is manufactured by New Page using renewable energy.

Green Guides are available at A.R.E.‘s GlobalShop booth, in A.R.E.-sponsored seminar sessions at the show, and in bins at the front of the show floor. Both issues are also available online at http://are.epubxpress.com.
