Hollywood, Fla. (March 23, 2009)—The awards excitement doesn’t end with GlobalShop. To encourage excellence in sustainable retail design, the Association for Retail Environments is launching the A.R.E. Sustainability Awards.
Projects that were submitted in the 2009 A.R.E. Design Awards competition—including store design, fixtures, and visual presentations—are eligible. Project submitters must provide
sustainability-related information by April 24 to be considered. Entries will be reviewed by A.R.E.’s Sustainability Council, a group of
designers and suppliers with various perspectives and expertise in sustainable retail design. Winners will be announced by the end of June. |
This awards program takes A.R.E.’s recognition of sustainable retail design to the next level. The association began encouraging sustainable design with Special Recognition for Green Awareness Awards as part of its 2008 Design Awards program. The new program draws more attention to sustainability by separating it from the existing awards program, and provides credibility with a separate judging panel and criteria.
