Fla. Winners of the 33rd annual NASFM Retail Design
Awards have been announced in 14 categories of store fixture
design and manufacturing. Fifty-one awards will be presented
to the winning architects, designers, fixture manufacturers,
general contractors, and retailers on Monday, March 22,
at the Fashion Show in Las Vegas. During the awards presentation,
31 projects will receive either an Outstanding Merit or
a Grand Prize in the store and shop categories, with one
Grand Prize recipient taking home the Store of the Year.
Eighteen Store Fixture Awards have been recognized for innovative
individual or fixture groupings, with one named Fixture
of the Year. Here is a list
of the winning projects and companies contributing to them,
but actual awards won’t be announced until the ceremony

The judging took place on Jan. 29-30 in
Newport Beach, Calif. The judges were Kevin Brailsford,
VP-Store Environments, Blockbuster Store Planning; Ted Clemens,
VP-Store Planning, Abercrombie & Fitch; Barbara Emerson,
VP-Store Planning & Design, Sephora; David Milne, Principal,
David Milne Design Associates; Mark Randall, Director-Fixture
Purchasing, Best Buy Co.; Kathleen Socha, President/Design
Director, Phase One Design Services Inc.; RoxAnna Sway,
Editor, DDI; and Carole Winters, Associate Publisher,
VM+SD Magazine.
We are pleased to announce that NASFM received
its highest number of entries of all time, 215 in total
for design projects and fixture projects. Not counting store
fixture entries, Shops in a Store and Specialty Stores Under
3,000 sq. ft. were the most competitive categories. The
winners were selected from projects completed between January
and December 2003, and represent projects from all over
the world.
NASFM is an international, not-for-profit
association representing the store fixture manufacturing
industry since 1956. The association's membership includes
350 regular member companies operating over 750 plants and
employing more than 75,000 people worldwide; 250 industry
suppliers are associate members. NASFM members manufacture
an estimated 85 percent of all store fixtures produced in
North America.
