PAVE Gala Raises Over $100,000 for Education
Hollywood, Fla. (December 14, 2007)—On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, retailers, designers, and industry suppliers gathered at PAVE’s 11th Annual Gala at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City to celebrate and show their support for the future of the retail design industry. The Gala event drew a crowd of 430 influential retailers, designers, and industry suppliers from companies including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, the Neiman Marcus Group Inc., Target, Bergdorf Goodman, Cartier, Ann Taylor, Apple, Bank of America, Harley-Davidson, FRCH Design Worldwide, Chute Gerdeman Retail, RYA Design Consultancy, Gensler, Greneker Solutions, Callison, and many others. The event raised over $100,000 for PAVE’s educational programs, making this most successful fundraising event in PAVE’s history.
Following a cocktail reception, guests moved into the Mandarin Ballroom for dinner and the awards ceremony. At the awards presentation, PAVE recognized the winners of this year’s PAVE Student Design Competition, sponsored by Sony Electronics Inc., awarding $22,000 in grants to students and schools. Nine students with winning projects and five educators were able to attend the event through seats donated by industry companies.

About PAVE
Founded in 1992, The Planning and Visual Education Partnership’s (PAVE) objective is to encourage students to study in the field of retail design and planning and visual merchandising through its annual Student Design Competition. Additionally, PAVE seeks to encourage retail management, store planners, visual merchandisers, architects, and manufacturers to interact with and support design students. This is accomplished through seminars, workshops, and PAVE’s annual fundraising Gala with proceeds dedicated to financial aid and internships for qualified students. PAVE is administered by the Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.), formerly NASFM.
