Borruso Wins American Architecture Award for Best New 2007 Building Design in the USA

Nov. 30, 2007 — The Fornarina London flagship, designed by Giorgio Borruso Design, was awarded the 2007 American Architecture Award. The American Architecture Awards honors the architecture of firms practicing in the USA and is presented by Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd., European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, and Milan's Abitare Magazine.

This years' winners were selected from hundreds of eligible projects ranging from corporate headquarters, institutions, sports facilities, airports, and urban planning, among others. Fornarina London's 1,700 sq.-ft. retail space is located at Carnaby Street and features a staircase and display wall as the store's design centerpiece. The surface of the wall and ceiling is backlit by an LED assembly made of thousands of cellular polycarbonate component, creating an artificial sky effect. The London flagship is one of several projects Giorgio Borruso has created for Italian fashion company Fornarina.
