Porto Arabia Construction Underway on Callison Project
Jan. 18, 2008—The Pearl-Qatar, a $2.5 billion island-city in the Arabian Gulf, is taking shape. Design firm Callison planned and designed the entire development, which is expected to support more than 40,000 residents and covers nearly 1,000 acres. The first phase, Porto Arabia, includes 31 20-story towers, as well as a 1 million sq.-ft. of retail and office space, a Four Seasons Hotel, and a 400-berth marina.
Callison plans and designs retail, hospitality, mixed-use, residential, corporate, and healthcare projects worldwide, with offices in Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Shanghai, London, and Mexico City. Clients include Nordstrom, Microsoft, AT&T, Harrods, FedEx, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Boeing, HP, Intrawest, Nike, Guess, Franciscan Health System, Seibu Department Stores of Japan, and General Growth Properties.
