Exel Gets Green on Earth Day 2008
Ponte Vedra, FL-based Exel Specialized Transportation, a North American supply
chain management specialist, marked Earth Day 2008
by partnering with the city of Westerville, Ohio to clean up and beautify community
parks. Approximately 60 Exel associates mulched trees and cleaned up trash in
Westerville park areas throughout the day. The company also donated four trees, which were planted by the City of Westerville.
During the event Exel launched its new getGREEN Environmental Incentive
Program, which is aimed at educating, rewarding, and offering its associates incentives of up to $500 for personal choices linked to specific eco-friendly actions.
The company also announced a matching funds component of the program to benefit The Nature
Conservancy, an organization with the mission of protecting ecologically important lands and waters. Exel commenced the Incentive Program by donating $10,000 to The Nature
Conservancy to support the organization's Carbon Offsets project in the Tensas
River Basin in Louisiana and a floodplain forest restoration in Ohio.
