Production Control Manager

Department:Manufacturing
Title of Immediate Supervisor:Vice President - Manufacturing
Summary: This position is responsible to plan, schedule, and expedite production planning, scheduling and control operations to achieve production goals and meet delivery date components.

KEY RESULT AREAS
A.Participates on Management Team to plan and establish overall production objectives, giving consideration to existing workload, orders, stock, parts requirements, shipping dates, and sales forecasts.
1.Participates in weekly meetings, discussing new projects, shop floor scheduling, and current issues regarding hardware, shipping, processes, and related areas.
2.Introduces new ideas for improved production control, such as: stock build up, new production methods, packaging rework kits, and inventory.
B.Organizes, formulates, and prepares master schedules to conform with delivery dates, manufacturing capacities, and available manpower.
1.Gives direction to production planners to ensure that accurate scheduling occurs.
2.Reviews schedules to ensure that all related parameters are met.
3.Works with Customer Service, Engineering, and Research and Development to handle special custom orders, specific customers, or resolve unique circumstances.
C.Directs and supervises departmental employees responsible for scheduling, machine loading, production orders, material requirement preparation and the release of orders to the Manufacturing Department.
D.Supervises the overseeing of orders in process to keep informed of manufacturing status.
1.Problem solves, provides guidance, and handles exceptions.
2.Informs the Manufacturing Administrator of exceptions as necessary.
E.Supervises and expedites rush orders, revising schedules to offset delays caused by manufacturing problems.
1.Identifies, evaluates, and presents to management the issues related to expediting particular rush orders, i.e., overtime and other related costs.
F.Works with other employees at all levels and within all departments to resolve daily problems.
G.Supervises the maintenance of records and files essential to the operation.
H.Prepares reports on order status.
I.Works with Materials to procure materials, components, and supplies.
J.Maintains bill of material files and procedures files.
K.Works with Implementation Committee to set up and install company's MRP II System.
L.Plans, supervises, and participates in department supervision, including staffing, training and education, discipline, compensation, communication, and employee relations.
1.Adheres to company and Human Resource policies and procedures.
2.Subscribes to company's corporate philosophy.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES
A.Participates in department budget planning.
B.Attends staff meetings.
C.Performs other duties as assigned by Vice President - Manufacturing.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Desired Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related field.
Minimum of five years experience in production scheduling with MRP II or related systems. Minimum of two years managerial experience. Experience in implementing and all other aspects of MRP II System.

Desired/Required Credentials, License or Designations
APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) Certification preferred.

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB
Talking/Hearing: Must be able to exchange ideas and convey information to employees accurately. Ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication.
Standing/Walking: Must be able to travel through and observe the manufacturing operations and meet with support departments throughout the company.
Fingering: Frequent use of computer keyboard and calculator.

Position requires the use of near, mid-range and far vision with clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. The ability to judge distance and space relationships to see objects where and as they are.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Incumbent must be able to use computer, calculator, and telephone.
