Accountant–Invoicing and Rate Analysis
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Controller
Summary: Invoices all billable activities of the company accurately and in a timely way; prepare reports used to analyze profitability of lanes and Customers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Invoicing
·Matches paperwork to appropriate customer data (verifies rate, bill to, address, etc.) and prepares invoices. Copies invoice attachments. Also prepares invoices for which paperwork is not required.
·Maintains up-to-date tariff tables.
·Prints, posts, and mails invoices.
·Files company copy of invoices and attachments. Makes copies as needed to ensure that company records are complete.
·Invoices all services listed and posts them to Platinum: Over-the-Road (OTR) loads, cargo loads, metro services, trailer rentals, and miscellaneous invoicing
2.Prints monthly statements.
·Tracks trailer rentals and invoices trailer rentals.
·Tracks and invoices Metro services.
·Approves Cargo Connection invoices and maintains subsidiary ledger for Cargo Connection.
·Prepares the following month-end reports for financial statement preparation: Aging Report, Unbilled Revenue, Revenue Analysis, Mileage Report, Accounts Receivable – Summary, Accounts Receivable – Detail, Statements with balances over thirty (30) days, and Sales Journal
·Updates sales history by Customer.
·Matches pending invoices with paperwork and investigates any delays.

Rate Analysis
·Prepares the Lane, Analysis, and Flash reports; evaluates and summarizes key information (excessive deadhead, unprofitable lanes, etc.) in order to provide guidance to Sales and Operations.
·Updates sales history by Customer.
·Calculates less than trailer load rates, as needed.
·Updates Schedule A and rate letters
·Creates new Schedule A's and updates rules tariff.

Cash
·Obtains listing of daily lock box receipts
·Obtains listing of intercompany payments
·Transmits ACH instructions daily.
·Maintains Company check register.

Payroll
·Calculates advances and service charges to be deducted

Other Duties
·Provides information upon request regarding current revenue, including projected future revenue.
·Updates sales history by Customer.
·Approves Cargo Connection invoices.
·Monitors full utilization of rules tariff.
·Approves accounts payable invoices for items purchased.
·Determines phone card and overnight charges to re-bill Driver Representatives; issues bills to Driver Representatives.

General
·Provides monthly counseling with each staff member
·Participates in weekly department meetings.
·Assists Accounting Team Members, as necessary.
·Supports the overall Company goal of continuous improvement. In his/her analysis of financial activity, actively seeks areas in which improvement is needed.
·Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A high school diploma with training in bookkeeping is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Above average verbal communication skills are required since the position requires following up with Driver Representatives and Customers to collect shipment documentation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Above average mathematical skills are needed.

REASONING ABILITY Above average reasoning ability is needed.
